The most used system for quince formation in our country is the improved floor crown, for which the following prunings are suitable:
- After planting. The trees are cut 80-90 cm above the soil surface. Shoots that are 50-60 cm above the soil are removed by sprouting.
- In the second year. One guide and three side branches are selected. The remaining twigs are removed. The branches designated for the lateral arms are shortened to 60-70 cm. The guide is cut about 30 cm above the lateral branches.
- In the third year. Successors are selected on the three side branches and their competitors are eliminated. One branch is left on each skeletal branch for the first skeletal branch.
The extensions of the lateral branches are shortened to 60-70 cm above the selected lateral branches so that they remain at the same level. The driver’s competitors are removed and a branch suitable for a new skeletal branch is left on it. It is cut about 60 cm from its base to obtain the first skeletal branch. The leader is shortened so as to dominate the shortened side branches.
- Completion of the formation. and pruning. for fruiting After the final formation of the crown, the guide is shortened to 40-60 cm above the base of the last skeletal branch, near the fruiting branches. All lateral branches and lateral branches are cut to 2-3 years of wood. All intertwining and inward-growing branches are removed. Old overgrown wood is removed. Young and vital fruiting twigs are left.
