Sage is not demanding to the soil. It grows very well on dry, south-facing sandy-clayey. permeable, weed-free soils. Does not tolerate heavy and wet soils. The most suitable are rich chernozems and alluvial. deep soils with a neutral or slightly alkaline reaction, such as carbonate soils.
Soil preparation includes cleaning of plant debris and plowing to a depth of 20-25 cm. After plowing, the areas are harrowed and furrowed every 60-70 cm.
