- Water:
Animal watering equipment must be designed and positioned in a way that is suitable and accessible to the animals. In case of group accommodation of the animals, a watering front of at least 5 cm per animal in the group must be provided (for 60 calves in a box – 3 meters). For individual accommodation, 1 watering place is provided for each animal. All animals in the group must be guaranteed constant access to water.
- Nutrition:
When housing the animals, a feeding front must be provided, all of which have simultaneous access to food2 (According to Ordinance 44, the feeding front for calves between 3 and 6 months of age is 0.40 meters, ie for a load of 60 animals need 24 meters feeding front). In free box accommodation, the food front is allowed to be smaller, but not less than ¾ (ie in the example above, the minimum of the food front is allowed to be between 18 and 24 meters). In case of individual accommodation, 1 feeding place is provided for each animal.
All animals housed at the rest area must be guaranteed access to food during their entire stay there.
